General Description

  1. sylvestris, also known as Scots pine, is an elegant, large evergreen coniferous tree with a simple, unbranched, cylindrical trunk that usually reaches a height of 25 meters (81 ft.) and even height of 40 meters (131 ft.) while growing wild. Pine essential oil provides many advantages and is popular for its powerful woody smell.

Harvesting and Extraction

Needles and twigs are often collected across the year, other than in countries where heavy snow causes transportation problems. In many small village distilleries throughout Russia, pine needle oil was still produced abundantly during the First World War.

The essential oil pine needle fragrance is fresh, sweet-green, with fruity, resinous and balsamic overtones very reminiscent of the fresh needles.

Uses and Benefits

  • There are also plenty of pine scents and oil extracts in everyday items. These include cleaners for floors and chairs, as well as disinfectants and air fresheners.
  • Pine essential oil is popular for its uplifting and calming fragrance owing to its aroma. Because of this, in a diffuser as well as in cleaning solutions, pine essential oil can work as a room scent.
  • Extracts of pine oil are often used for homes, offices and vehicles in air fresheners. On the other hand, essential oils can be used to create an uplifting and invigorating atmosphere in aromatherapy.
